For over 95 years, Lacordaire Academy has provided a challenging and rigorous curriculum in the Dominican Catholic tradition to a diverse student body. Today, educators face an interesting challenge; we can no longer predict with any certainty the job market or skills that students will need fifteen, ten or even five years from now.
The Guidance Office provides a caring environment for all students at the Academy. Students in the Lower, Middle, and Upper School have access to the Director for a variety of needs, such as college counseling, the high school transition process, support with a learning disability, or any other personal need they may have.
Lacordaire Academy’s technology program provides faculty with the resources to make learning dynamic, engaging and current. All classrooms in the Academy have Wi-Fi and Internet access, and students in every grade have access to the over 20 classrooms equipped with Smart Board or Smart Panel Technology. Additionally, there are two computer labs and printing stations for our students’ use, and students and faculty have access to iPads, mini iPads, and Chromebooks for daily and project-based learning.
With a firm commitment to both our Dominican heritage and Catholic tradition, Lacordaire Academy supports the activities of its students to serve their local, national and global communities. Beginning in preschool and continuing throughout their time at the Academy, students are made aware of their responsibility to share their time, talent and treasure. The moral imperative to share is supported by Scripture, by Catholic teaching and by our Dominican values.
Arts Education at Lacordaire Academy strives to discover, mentor, and show appreciation of, the artistic talents of all our students. We pride ourselves in offering Arts Education programming as a way to provide students some space in their day to embrace imaginative thought and creation.
Interscholastic athletics at Lacordaire Academy is considered an integral part of a student’s academic experience. Athletics teaches and reinforces values learned in the classroom— commitment, dedication, hard work and pride. It is our goal to provide an environment that expects the highest standards of sportsmanship from every athlete, coach and spectator.
The Advancement Office implements fundraising initiatives to advance the school’s mission, goals and community through an Annual Fund drive, special event fundraisers, parent and alumnae/i activities, and volunteer and donor recruitment, retention and stewardship. Our office coordinates parent, donor and alumnae/i data management, event promotional materials, and publicity and school communications via direct mail, social media, the website, eNewsletters and the media.
All Academy open house for new students. Please RSVP to Joan Hearst, Director of Admissions, firstname.lastname@example.org, 973-744-1156 x12.
