Upper School Graduation – Class of 2017

Lacordaire Academy’s 97th Commencement was held on campus in Upper Montclair on Saturday, June 3.  The traditional ceremony began with a processional entrance of graduates, staff, administration and the Board of Trustees accompanied by bagpipes.

Student Council President, Brianna Zichelli, provided the Welcome. Sister Marie Mueller, OP, conducted the Invocation which was followed by the Academy’s two Valedictorians, Elizabeth Shehata and Catherine Worth (Montclair) who spoke about values, knowledge and treasured friendships that will last a lifetime, as well as future hopes and dreams for their class. Director of Guidance Megan Mannato (Montclair), Head of School Brian F. Morgan and Board President & Alumna Christine James (Montclair) conferred diplomas to the graduates.


The Class of 2017 earned over 3.5 million dollars in scholarships over their four years of college attending Salve Regina, St. Mary’s University-England, Rutgers, Pace, Seton Hall, Montclair State and Caldwell University.

Commencement Speaker Brian F. Morgan, who is stepping down as Head of School after 10 years, spoke about the challenges of life, responsibility, integrity, compassion, grit and reflected on each member of the class’s successful attributes.

The board of trustees awarded the distinction of Head if School Emeritus to Brian F. Morgan after he spoke.  Best of luck to all the graduates!
