Lacordaire offers a well-balanced curriculum that both engages and challenges its students through inquiry and project-based learning. In order to prepare our students for all future educational and career settings, the Academy is committed to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (S.T.E.M.) as well as Science, Technology, Engineering Arts, and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) initiatives, and integrates technology across the curriculum at every grade level. Students are encouraged to become independent thinkers, confident decision makers and responsible leaders. The core subjects of reading, language arts, social studies, math, science and religion provide the foundation for curriculum. In grades five through eight, enrichment classes, such as study skills, geography, character development and writing workshop develop important skills that often are overlooked in a traditional curriculum. Advanced students have the opportunity to take accelerated classes in math and literature in sixth through eighth grade; however, all Academy classes are considered on or above grade level and provide rigorous academics. All Middle School students take art, music and gym, and have the choice of French and Spanish in grades seven through eight. Additionally, all seventh and eighth graders will study Latin. Student progress is evaluated through a variety of methods including parent teacher conferences, portfolios, class and group work, teacher observation, progress reports, report cards and standardized tests.
