The team also took 1st place in 2013, second place in 2014 and 4th place 2015 in the annual Union Catholic High School tournament for middle schools all over New Jersey.
Award Winning Performing Arts Program
Fifth and sixth graders produce a Christmas show and concert every December. Past productions have included A Christmas Carol, It’s a Wonderful Life, and A Christmas Story. Each year our 7th and 8th graders participate in a Shakespeare competition held at Drew University and run by Shakespeare Live. Several of our students win awards, and the school has been commended for its productions of A Midsummers Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, The Tempest, Taming of the Shrew, and A Comedy of Errors.
Grades K-8 use a process approach to teach writing. Lacordaire Academy was recognized as an Honor School by Creative Communications for categories of personal narratives and poetry.
In November 2012, 7th grade students scored 91% for the class mean on the Terra Nova Writing Assessment and 4th graders averaged 98%. The students no longer take this assessment, but a committment to our writing program can be seen throughout the curriculum and in our students’ work.
