The program for grades 9-12 is performance-based, developing students’ knowledge and skills and providing multiple performance opportunities in music, dance and drama.

The One Acts Competition is between the Upper School junior and senior students, who direct, choreograph and act in scenes from a musical and comedy of their choice. Awards are given for Best Director overall, Best Actress and Supporting Actress from each class, and Best Class Performance overall.
The Winter Drama provides Upper School students an opportunity to perform in a drama or comedy. Plays have included Under Millwood, Alice in Wonderland, Method to His Madness and a series of one-act comedies.
Each year, the Upper School produces a major musical, some of which include Once on This Island, Seussical, Nunsense, The 23rd Annual Putman County Spelling Bee and Alice in Wonderland. Students participate in all areas of production such as costume, set, sound and lighting design.
In Introduction to Theatre, students develop performance techniques through acting and improvisation. They examine dramatic structure and theatre history and read historic and contemporary plays. In addition, they explore all facets of theatre, which include the script, characters, set, costumes and lighting.
