What time does school begin and what time is dismissal?
  • Morning assembly begins promptly at 8AM for PreK4-8th grade
  • Dismissal for PreK4-4th grade (Lower School)  is 2:40
  • Dismissal for 5th-8th ( Middle School) is 3:05
Are Before and After-care offered?
  • Before-School Care is offered beginning at 7:15AM with no charge to the parents
  • After-Care is offered from 3:15-6:00
  • There is no charge for Pre-K – 4 from 2:40-3:05

On school days that are scheduled as 1/2 days, Lacordaire doesn’t offer After Care.

What is an average class size?

Pre K4 has 12to 13 students enrolled with a FT teacher and a FT aide. Kindergarten has 18 enrolled with a FT teacher and a FT aide.

In the Lower and Middle Schools, academic classes are small. In grades 1-4, the average student-teacher ratio is 1-13. In the middle school, the ratio is 1:12.

Do you have to be Catholic to attend Lacordaire?

We welcome all faiths. 60% of our students are Catholic. Religion classes are required for all students Pre-K – 8th.

Is transportation offered?

Lacordaire does not offer transportation; however, we do assist families to arrange carpools.

Is there a lunch program?

Students bring their own lunch to school. Pizza and Chicken Fingers both offered once a week and delivered to the classroom

New this year – No Fuss Lunch

In the fall of 2016 Lacordaire will offer families to order on line meals from No Fuss Lunch. The food is gluten free, allergy free and no fried foods. 

Are extra-curricular activities offered?

Competitive sports are offered for 5th-8th grades as follows:

  • Coed Volleyball
  • Boys Basketball
  • Girls Basketball

Pre-K – 8th  can participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Clubs introduce  sportsmanship and  building skills Club listings can be found on the website under Extra-Curricular brochure.

Do the students go on field trips?

Throughout the year, all students in the Lower/Middle School will experience  age appropriate field trip(s).

What testing does Lacordaire administer to students and in what grades are they tested?
  • Lacordaire administers the Terra Nova exam to 2nd-8th grades
  • Lacordaire administers the COOP (Catholic High School Entrance Exam) in 8th grade
What World Languages are offered in the Lower/Middle School?
  • French is offered Pre-K – 8th grade
  • Spanish is offered to 7th and 8th graders
Do you offer bus transportation?

We do not offer bus transportation but we assist families in arranging carpools.

What is an average class size?

We have 18-20 in a class and with some disciplines split- allowing 9 or 10 respectively in class.

Does Lacordaire offer AP and College Credit courses?

We offer AP and College Credit courses – refer to the Academic link on our web for more detailed information.

What World Language is offered to Upper School students?

We offer French and Spanish all 4 years.

What percentage of graduates attend college/university?

100% of our graduates continue at college/university level. Lacordaire graduates are traditionally offered substantial scholarships for college. The Class of 2012 – with 22 members – were offered over $3million in scholarship money in the various colleges/universities they were accepted at.

Does Lacordaire offer extra-curricular activities?

There are several clubs for students to become active members of and clubs meet weekly during the school day. The clubs offer the girls leadership opportunities as well. Lacordaire has a competitive sports program offering:

  • Volleyball
  • Tennis
  • Basketball
  • Softball

We accept all faiths and 60% of our students are Catholic. Religion class is required by all students 9th-12th grade.
