Dr. William C. Hambleton’s Letter of 9-29-17

September 29, 2017

Dear Parents,

Let me begin by extending my thanks to all of you who were able to join us last night at Back to School Night.  We are very grateful to partner with such a supportive parent community as we educate our students.

Wednesday, October 4th, is the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals. Accordingly, we will celebrate our annual Blessing of the Animals prayer service during morning ceremony. Families are invited to bring their pets to school to receive a special prayer from our community.  Please ensure that pets are appropriately leashed or caged.  After morning ceremony, all animals should return home with their parents.

I have been in contact with PSE&G in regard to roadwork around campus.  They have changed the dates of the anticipated work, which is now scheduled for October 2nd through the 6th.  They assured me that they will make every effort to ensure that work does not begin until after the start of the school day and end before dismissal. However, in the event that Park Street is closed at any time during the next three days, we would ask that you follow the below protocol:

  1. Do not pull your car into the circle for drop off.
  2. Please park your car on a nearby street and walk your children up the driveway.
  3. Faculty or Mr. Alex will be there to greet them.

At the last meeting of the executive committee of the Parent’s Association, we discussed moving to an online calendar in order to simplify communications around our scheduling.  If you have not already received it, you will be getting an email that invites you to join our online Google calendar. We have one calendar for the Lower/Middle School, which Fiona Lake oversees and one calendar for the Upper School, which Chris Del Pozzo oversees. If you ever need to find information, these calendars are the best place to start. Please contact Mrs. Lake or Ms. Del Pozzo if you have any issues or questions regarding the calendars.

Please remember that there are no classes on Friday, October 6th or Monday, October 9th.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

William C. Hambleton

Head of School, Ed.D.
