Lacordaire Completes First Weeks of Summer Camps

Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean we take a break here at Lacordaire! The Academy is abuzz with activity during the warmer months, one of the best known being playing host to Steve & Kate’s camp. However, the Academy also offers a number of different summer camps put on by our faculty and staff. This past week, the Academy wrapped up its first week of these camps, which included our Summer Reading Boot Camp and Sports Camp!

Summer Reading Boot Campers worked hard to get a jump start on the summer assignments, with almost every participant completing at least one summer reading book – some finishing entirely! Campers also enjoyed trips to the Bellevue Ave. branch of the Montclair Public Library and Watchung Booksellers.

Sports campers enjoyed games, activities, sports such as hockey and baseball, and the opportunity to run and play with friends, all while learning about the importance of sportsmanship and healthy competition. Sports Camp wrapped up an energetic week with a bowling field trip!

Summer fun continued into the second week of the break at Laco with our Literature Comes to Life camp! Students read classic children’s literature selections, explored a variety of reading skills, and created exciting crafts. In the words of Dr. Seuss, “You can find magic wherever you look.  Sit back and relax, all you need is a book!”
