Upper School Holds Annual Honors Ceremony

On Friday, June 1st, the Upper School concluded its academic year with the annual Honors Ceremony, held to commemorate the outstanding achievements of Lacordaire’s students from throughout the year. Led by Dr. Hambleton and Mrs. Mannato, the Academy recognized the hard work and dedication of its students in academics, the arts, and more.

While students from all grades are honored, the Class of 2018 stole the show, as they received their academic medallions and commendations for services to the Academy’s extracurricular organizations. The Ceremony included the transition of the Student Government, as well, with the outgoing administration passing the torch onto the new officers, who were sworn in by their predecessors.

The Ceremony culminated in the awarding of the Academy’s highest honor for students: the “L” Pin. The “L” Pin is awarded each year to a member of each class that most represents the ideals of a Lacordaire student. The 2018 “L” Pin recipients are: Macrina Makar ’21, Emily Torres ’20, Juliana Tapia ’19, and Sofa Cartagena ’18. In addition, the faculty’s highest recognition, the Key Award, was awarded to our very own Mrs. Mannato in recognition of all her hard work this year.

The Ceremony concluded with a lovely tradition: the Senior Class Song. Members of the Class of 2018 joined their voices together for a final time to perform their selected song, “Flashlight.” In that spirit, here’s a special hope that our new graduates remember to lighten the road ahead for those that come after them. Congratulations, Seniors!
