Upper School Inducts New Members of National Honor Society & First Class of Math Honor Society

On Friday, February 2nd, the Upper School gathered together to celebrate the high achievements of some of its students. The National Honor Society inducted four new members from the Junior class, all of whom were selected from a competitive pool of applicants for outstanding achievements in academics and service while also providing excellent examples of leadership, character, and citizenship.

The NHS Inductee Class of 2018 included (left to right) Gabriella Pereira, Suzanne Ott, Jocelyn Hernandez, and Juliana Tapia.

Lacordaire Academy also inaugurated a new honor society, establishing a chapter of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society for the first time in the academy’s history. Mrs. Provost established the chapter as the first Faculty Advisor, while Mrs. Roche, the Math Department Chair, presented the new Chapter’s Charter to Dr. Hambleton. Junior Meleny Gonzalez, the Chapter’s first President, assisted Mrs. Provost in inducting the other members. The Ceremony included a brief overview of women’s contributions to the field of mathematics, and a heartfelt hope that the new Inductees would continue that long tradition.

Induction into these national organizations shows a level of commitment and achievement that we are proud of here at the Academy. Congratulations to our new Inductees!
