Last night, the Lacordaire Prosecution team faced a Defense team from North 13th Street Tech High School, and came through with a convincing victory against the opponent in a criminal case involving the death of a man from an opioid overdose.
Sophomore Natalie Parisi started off with a confident and strong opening statement, and did an incredible job with her direct and cross examinations, as well as objections. It was a joy to watch, as she took the role of lawyer for the first time only this year! Sophomore Holly Lake also represented the Prosecution, and she is undefeated in her first two competitions as a lawyer, also working effectively with objections and cross and her closing statement.
Laco’s witnesses, Junior Yamisha Braconiel, Senior Gigi Porrata, and Sophomore Alice Lake, all did a great job holding up against cross examinations. Alice was given special commendation from the judge for her accurate and realistic portrayal of her character, the mother of the deceased.
Lacordaire’s Defense team will compete tonight and, if they win, are automatically qualified for the quarter final round, which will occur next Monday. Go Laco!!
