About Lacordaire

Lacordaire Academy is an independent Catholic school, sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Caldwell. The Academy has a long standing legacy of excellence in curriculum and community, serving a diverse student population of students in our coed PreK through 8 and our all girls 9th through 12th grade. Guided by our mission, we aim to develop critical and innovative thinkers who are empowered and equipped to be global citizens of strong moral character.

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT CHAIR AND TEACHER

Lacordaire Academy, a Catholic independent PreK to 12 school, is currently seeking a full-time English instructor for the 2023-2024 school year for our Middle and Upper School, grades 7-12. Applicants must have a desire and willingness to support the mission of Lacordaire Academy. Highly qualified candidates will be considered for an English Department Chair position.

Qualifications: 

  • State Department of Education Certification
  • Degree in english, english education, or a related field (Masters preferred)
  • Experience with advancement placement curriculum
  • Content knowledge and passion to teach English to students in grades 7-12 including introductory literature to advanced placement levels
  • Ability to effectively teach principles of the English language, develop students’ understanding and appreciation of literature, and advance their verbal and written skills
  • Knowledge of development and implementation of middle and upper school english curriculum that focuses on college preparedness and the vision of the Academy

SPANISH TEACHER

Lacordaire Academy, a Catholic independent PreK to 12 school, is currently seeking a full-time Spanish instructor for the 2023-2024 school year for our Middle and Upper School, grades 5-12. Applicants must have a desire and willingness to support the mission of Lacordaire Academy. 

Qualifications: 

  • State Department of Education Certification
  • Degree in related field
  • Strong linguistic and cultural content knowledge to teach relevant courses
  • Passion for world languages and ability to inspire students
  • Experience in a classroom setting as a teacher
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Knowledge and application of best practices in instruction and classroom management

HISTORY AND RELIGION TEACHER

Lacordaire Academy, a Catholic independent PreK to 12 school, is currently seeking a full-time combination History and Religion instructor for the 2023-2024 school year for our Middle and Upper School, grades 5-12. Applicants must have a desire and willingness to support the mission of Lacordaire Academy. 

Qualifications: 

  • State Department of Education Certification
  • Degree in history, theology, education, or a related field
  • Strong content knowledge to teach relevant courses, as well as desire to teach electives
  • Ability to present content through multiple perspectives and lenses
  • Knowledge of the Catholic Church teachings
  • Passion for the subject areas and the ability to inspire students
  • Experience in a classroom setting as a teacher

TECHNOLOGY TEACHER

Lacordaire Academy, a Catholic independent PreK to 12 school, is currently seeking a full-time all academy technology instructor for the 2023-2024 school year for our Lower, Middle, and Upper School, grades PreK-12. Applicants must have a desire and willingness to support the mission of Lacordaire Academy. 

Qualifications: 

  • State Department of Education Certification (preferred, not required) 
  • Degree in computer science, technology education, or a related field
  • Experience and passion for working with students of varying age ranges
  • Knowledge of and ability to instruct courses in basic introductory computer and technology skills and advanced elective offerings in grades 6-12
