This weekend, Lacordaire Freshmen Felicity and Adriana, with Mrs. Tashjian and Mr. Houston and students from the other Caldwell Dominican sponsored academies attended the Regional High School Preaching Conference. The students and mentors traveled to Amityville, NY to spend the weekend learning the different ways they can preach from the pulpit of their lives. Sponsored by the Dominican Youth Movement USA, the conference gave the ladies the opportunity to connect with one another through the Dominican mission and charism. On Day 1 they preached through service to the Earth by helping out on Homecoming Farm, which is an organic farm run by the Amityville Dominican Sisters. Students and mentors also took a tour of the amazing Amityville convent and chapel, an exact replica of the original Dominican Sisters chapel in Regensburg, Germany. Amazing!
Felicity, Adriana and the other students from the NJ Caldwell Dominican sponsored high schools rounded out an amazing Preaching weekend! Through different workshops, the ladies learned to preach through art, dance, social justice and building community, just to name a few. The weekend closed with a beautiful Liturgy full of liturgical dance and preaching.
